How To Protect Your MyBJCnet Account Privacy
Where you use a Portal or other Service that is secured with a username and password, you are also responsible for taking steps to protect the privacy of Personal Information about you. In order to protect your privacy, you should:
- Never share your username or password;
- Always sign out when you are finished using the MyBJCnet Portal;
- Use only secure web browsers;
- Employ common anti-virus and anti-malware tools on your system to keep it safe;
- Use a strong password with a combination of letters and numbers;
Change your password often; and - Notify us immediately if your login and password have been compromised.
- If you share your username and password with another person, this will allow that person to see your confidential record information. We have no responsibility concerning any breach of your confidential medical record information due to your sharing or losing your username or password.
How New Users Set Up a BJC Network Password
To better protect personal data when logging in to myBJCnet from a remote location, BJC employees need a security application called Microsoft Authenticator. New employees are given a temporary password to access the BJC network. When you access your BJC M365 account using this password, you will be automatically prompted to register for Microsoft Authenticator first. After that, you will be prompted to change your network password.
What is Microsoft Authenticator?
An authenticator is BJC’s two-step authentication method you will need to use when accessing your network ID and Microsoft 365 account off-network.
Steps to Change Your Temporary Password:
Follow these steps to sign in to your M365 account, register for Authenticator, and then change your password. The process will end by displaying your M365 account online which you can close when finished. Use this new password to access the network and M365 online.
1: Visit https://portal.office.com.
2: Enter your user ID this way: USERID@bjc.org
3: Type in your temporary password and click Sign in
4: You will be prompted next to register for Microsoft Authenticator. Click Next.
5: Download the Microsoft Authenticator App on your smartphone and click Next. If you do not want to install the app on your phone, click on “I want to set up a different method.”
6: Enter a phone number as your second registration method. This can be your mobile number or an office phone number. Then choose to receive a Text or a Call to verify your identity. Click Next
7: If you chose Text, enter the text code received on your phone.
8: After it states your phone was registered successfully, click Next.
9: Success! Click Done.
10: After successfully registering, you will be prompted with the Update Password screen. Enter your temporary password and then a new password and click Sign in.
11: If you want to stay signed into your M365 account, click Yes
12: You’re Done! The screen will display your BJC Microsoft 365 online account Home screen. You can close the M365 screen because you have finished the process.

Go to the MyBJCnet login portal, a link that will take you to myBJCnet when you are inside the BJC network, as well as outside the network (e.g., home and remote locations).
Remotely accessing myBJCnet is a two-step process:
Step 1: go to https://myBJCnet.carenet.org and log in using your BJC network user ID and password.
Step 2 requires you to be registered with Microsoft Authenticator. You will use your approved notification method (app push, phone call) to authenticate.
