Eligibilities Criteria for Commonwealth Professional Fellowships
To actually be eligible for the Commonwealth Professional Fellowships for International Students, applicants will be expected to meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must actually be a citizen of or they must have been granted refugee status by an eligible commonwealth country or they must be a British Protected Person.
- Applicant must be a permanent resident in an eligible commonwealth country
- Applicants must have at least 5years of full-time or equivalent part-time, relevant work experience, in a profession that is related to the subjects of the fellowship program; by the proposed start of the fellowship-voluntary work experience will not actually be counted towards this minimum.
- Be in employment at the very time of application at an organization that they will actually return to upon completion of the Fellowship.
- If nominated for a professional Fellowship, prospective Fellows will be required to provide at least two references (one of which must be from their current employer). Prospective Fellows will be contacted directly by the CSC if required to submit references. The host organization Fellow is applying to might also contact them to ask a reference when considering their application.
- Applicant must not undertake a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship within the last five years (at the time of taking up the award)
- Applicant must not be seeking to undertake an academic program of research and study. Academics are actually eligible to apply for the scheme, but only to undertake a program of academic management, not actually research or courses that are relevant to their research subjects.
- Applicants must actually be available to start and also complete their fellowship that is within prescribed dates.
